The purpose of The Journey Student Ministries is to provide a variety of opportunities for Students from 7th to 12th grades to (1) hear and personally claim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, (2) disciple students in a healthy growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and (3) equip students with the proper tools and confidence to share their faith with others in their daily life.
Sunday School meets at 9:45 am. We join together for fellowship, announcements, and prayer. The students are then divided by age to maximize discussion and relevance. Sunday School is designed to study the truths of God's word in an open format so questions are always welcome.
Sunday Evenings begin at 6:00 pm. Evening meeting provides time for a wide variety of studies. In addition to class time, the evenings provide time for us to visit the shut-ins of our church, accomplish small projects in our church and around our community, and plan for future activities. Lastly, the evenings lend themselves to fun fellowship activities of all sorts both here and off campus.
Mission Opportunities are also given to the youth on a regular basis. In recent years we have traveled to West Virginia, South Carolina and St. Louis to participate in week long missions. Project Impact Elkin is our main local mission and we hope the future will hold overseas opportunities.
Fun is also an essential part of the youth ministry. Trips such as snow skiing, Winterfest, camping, theme parks, concerts and sporting events are presented annually for students' involvement. Many times just hanging out at a local restaurant creates the best times of fellowship.
